For Tomorrow’s Bright Future – SOLVE IT Today!

March 20, 2012

As a volunteer, you may know that OPRD frequently partners with SOLV to get environmental restoration, clean-up and conservation work done in our state parks. Given their mission statement: “SOLV brings Oregonians together to improve our environment and build a legacy of stewardship”, Oregon State Parks buys into that concept hook, line and sinker!

This coming April, Oregon State Parks have once again jumped into this fantastic statewide effort in support of SOLV’s Earth Day event, called SOLVE IT. This is one of the largest Earth Day events in the nation, boasting roughly 200 separate volunteer projects ranging from litter pick-up in neighborhoods and along waterways, cleaning up illegal dump sites, providing invasive species removal, planting native trees and shrubs, and maintaining various restoration sites.

The event this year is held on Saturday, April 21st, 2012, from 9:00 A.M -1:00 P.M.

YOU can join in on one of the projects happening in Oregon State Parks. Currently there are 7 state parks hosting clean-up events YOU can participate in! See the list of SOLVE IT projects listed in the OPRD volunteer opportunities bulletin at: http://www.oregon.gov/OPRD/VOL/docs/2012_OppsForWeb.pdf

Find the park that interests you by looking for the SOLVE IT events and contact the ranger whose name is listed for detailed information. More events will likely be added in the coming weeks, so keep checking back to look for new projects close to your home.
